Viola Schneekloth, 88

Blair native Viola Schneekloth, 88, of Fremont, died May 6, 2004, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Monday, May 10, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery.

Viola Schneekloth was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Blair to Otto and Margaret (Wiese) Voss. She grew up on the family farm in the Blair and Kennard area.

On Nov. 9, 1938, she married Clarence Schneekloth in Bennington. The couple farmed in the Fort Calhoun and Blair area until moving to a farm northwest of Fremont in 1950. In 1971, the Schneekloths moved into Fremont.

Early in her working years, Mrs. Schneekloth worked for the superintendent of the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont. After her marriage, she helped her husband on the farm.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Fremont. She had been active with the American Red Cross volunteers in Fremont’s hospital, and she and her husband were active in the REAC of Fremont’s Eagles Aerie No. 200.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Ross Rasmussen of Fremont; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna Knutzen of Omaha, and Maxine and Louis Nielsen of Kennard.

She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church and the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
