Services today for Schneemeyer

Funeral services for Harold W. Schneemeyer of Fort Calhoun will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. Mr. Schneemeyer died Monday, Feb. 11, 1985, at the age of 65. Rev. Kurt Sortland will officiate with organist Clare Cowing and vocalist Homer Nielsen. Graveside services will follow at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery, with Masonic services conducted by the Solomon Lodge No. 10.

Harold was born May 9, 1919 at Fort Calhoun to Martin and Marie Gross Schneemeyer. He attended the Long Creek and Fort Calhoun Schools.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1945. Upon his return from the service, he engaged in the construction business and later worked for the Vickers Company. Harold semi-retired from farming in 1984.

He was a member of the Fort Calhoun American Legion and VFW, Solomon Lodge No. 10, and past lodge master.

Harold married Norma Frahm May 5, 1951 at the Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Harold is survived by his wife Norma, one son Russell of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Kathleen and Connie Schneemeyer, both of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Bond and Mrs. Otto (Emma) Gross, both of Baltimore; two brothers, Rudolph and Walter both of Baltimore.

He is also survived by Mrs. Ann Neumann of San Jose, California, Mrs. Jean Womberg of Saratoga, California, and Mrs. Ruth Ann Crutchfield of San Jose. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers William and Russell.

Casket bearers are Russell Christensen, Paul Kruger, Albert Ohrt, Walter Ohrt, Jack Rathjen and Albert Suverkrubbe.

Honorary pallbearers are Howard Barnes, Wes Petznick, Olaf Kaer and Herbert Siemer.

Harold W. Schneemeyer was born on May 9, 1919 at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska to Martin and Marie Gross Schneemeyer. He attended the Logan Creek and Fort Calhoun schools. Harold was united in marriage to Norma Frahm on May 5, 1951 at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of the Fort Calhoun American Legion and VFW, a member of the Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 10 and a past master. He semi-retired from farming in 1984.

Harold was preceded in death y his parents, and two brothers, William and Russell Schneemeyer.

The family extends an invitation to join them for lunch at the church following graveside services.
