Dorothy Anabelle Mayo, 69

Dorothy Mayo, 69, of Clay Center, Kan., formerly of Blair, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at her home in Clay Center, Kan.

Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kan. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kan.

Dorothy Anabelle Mayo was born June 22, 1930, to Francis Oscar and Julia Leveta (Huff) Reed in Sargent. She was raised and attended school in Broken Bow, graduating from high school in 1948.

On Sep. 10, 1950, she married Frank Ronald Mayo. They lived in Broken Bow where she worked in the Custer County Clerk’s office.

In 1973, they moved to Blair, where she worked for Blair Abstract and Title Co. and the Washington County Abstractors Office. In 1983, they moved to Clay Center, Kan. She worked for Elmer Anderson as an abstractor and later Eric Swenson Abstract Company.

She was a member and secretary for the First Baptist Church in Clay Center from 1988 until October 1999. She continued to work as church treasurer until January 2000.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Cindy Mayo, Tim and Kim Mayo and Jeff and Ruth Mayo, all of Clay Center, Kans., and Jon and Holly Mayo of Omaha; two daughters and sons-in-law, Allison and Tom Danilovich of Creston, Iowa and Marilyn and Michael Luttenegger of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Betty Reed of Hamburg, Iowa and Rodney and Hortie Reed of Eugene, Ore.; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Weldon Swick of Keizer, Ore., Marian Woodward of Broken Bow and Gwen DenDooven of Las Vegas, Nev.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died June 17, 1988; and one brother.

Memorials are suggested to Meadowlark Hospice or the First Baptist Church.

Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.
