Marion L. Fedde, 82

Marion L. Fedde, 82, of Bennington died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Skyline Villa in Omaha.

Funeral services were on Thursday, Oct. 26, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. The Rev. John Pierson officiated. Interment was at the German Cemetery in Bennington.

Marion Louise Fedde, and her twin sister, Margaret, were born Jan. 29, 1918, near Kennard to William and Greta (Kalhke) Jahnel. She grew up in the Kennard area, attending Sunnyside country school and Kennard High School before attending Wayne State Teachers College for two years. Growing up during the Depression, much of her activities were limited to the farm. After college, Mrs. Fedde taught elementary school for 5 ½ years.

She married Rymer Fedde on Dec. 14, 1941, and shortly after, he was called to duty in World War II. During the war, Mrs. Fedde worked at the bomber plant. After her husband returned from the war, they settled on the farm north of Bennington, where they remained all of their life.

The couple had two sons, John and James, and they all helped run the farm in the years following the war.

Mrs. Fedde was active in the Legion Auxiliary, 40 and 8, and her church. She enjoyed her family tremendously, and in her spare time, liked to read, do crossword puzzles, quilting and traveling. She will be remembered forever for her delicious lemon meringue pie. Mr. and Mrs. Fedde spent many winters in California with her sister, Mickey. Although her husband died in 1997, Marion remained on the farm, staying busy with her many interests and hobbies.

Mrs. Fedde died at Skyline Villa in Omaha, while rehabilitating from a recent fall. She is survived by a son, John Fedde of Palm Springs, Calif., and son and daughter-in-law, James and Betsy Fedde of Lincoln, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, a twin sister, Margaret “Mickey” Maraldo of Vista, Calif., and sister, Helen Peterson of Omaha, and dear friend, Geani Barnes of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Memorials are suggested to the German Cemetery or to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bennington. Hadan Golden Reichmuth Funeral Home was in charge of services.
