Rites Held Sunday For Mrs. Meeves, 96, Of Bennington

Funeral services were held on Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington for Mrs. Anna Meeves, 96 years of age, who died Friday in an Omaha hospital. Interment followed in German Cemetery.

Mrs. Meeves is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred Nordhorst of Omaha; sons, John, Will and Herman of Bennington, Henry of Salt Lake City, and Ernest of Long Beach, Calif., 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Meeves, the former Anna Harder, was born in Readsburg, Germany Jan. 16, 1865. She came to the United States in May of 1885 and married the late Hans Meeves March 4, 1887.

Mr. and Mrs. Meeves lived on a farm in the southern part of Washington County until 1935. She was the oldest known living person in the Bennington area.

The Hadan Mortuary of Bennington was in charge of arrangements.
