ANNA ROBERTS EXTENSIVE LAND OWNER, IS DEAD

Was Descendant Of Pioneer Family, Traveled Extensively

Mrs. Anna C. Roberts of Fort Calhoun passed away at her home last Thursday, October 1, following an attack of gall bladder trouble. She was ill but a few hours.

Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Couchman, pioneers of this county, and was born in Calhoun where she spent her early childhood.

She was a graduate of the high school in Cadillac, Michigan, and also of Brownell Hall in Omaha.

After the death of her father, she assumed the business management of the Couchman estate and continued in this capacity until her death.

Mrs. Roberts was a great traveller. After spending her summers in Calhoun looking after business interests, she would close her home and spend the winters mostly in travel. These travels were not alone in the United Stated but in Europe and South America where she gained first hand knowledge of the most interesting and historical points.

One daughter and her family, Rev. and Mrs. John Herrick Darling and David of Wilmington, Delaware, and one sister and family, Rev. and Mrs. Charles Arnold of St. Paul, Minnesota, are left to mourn her sudden death.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the home with the Reverends Darling and Arnold officiating, and interment was made in the Calhoun cemetery.

Thus another member of a pioneer family has gone, and only the memory of a busy life well spent is left and this memory will always be sacred to her family and her friends.
