Edna Penke, 79

Edna Penke, 79, of Blair, died Nov. 10, 2003, in Blair.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha. Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery of rural Kennard.

Edna Kunneman Penke was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Kennard to Richard and Martha (Wrich) Kunneman. She graduated from Bennington High School and Business College in Omaha.

On Dec. 9, 1944, she married Wayland Dillon Penke in Lincoln. The couple farmed in the Bennington and Kennard areas for many years until Mr. Penke’s death in 1994.

Mrs. Penke is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandie and Jim Jensen of Eskridge, Kan.; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Nancy Penke of Arlington, and Donn and Ann Penke of Kennard; sister, Arlene Tunnicliff of Alexandria, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters LaFern Johnson and Georgia Witcofski.

Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church.
