Rymer Fedde, 82

Rymer Harry Fedde, 82, died Wednesday. Aug. 13, 1997 after a long illness. Services were Aug. 16 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Rev. John Pierson officiated. Burial was at the German Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 266, Bennington.

Fedde was born in Irvington Jan 19, 1915 to Harry and Anna (Steffen) Fedde. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He attended Dornacher School through the eighth grade and attended two years at Bennington High School before quitting to farm due to his father’s illness.

On Dec. 14, 1941, he married Marion Jahnel at St. John’s. He farmed all his life in Washington County and southeast of Bennington. He served on the Dornacher School Board for nine years and was a 4-H leader with his wife for 10 years. He retired from farming in 1980.

He served in the Army during World War II in the Fourth Field Hospital Unit. He was a member of the Bennington American Legion Post for 50 years and the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 15 years. He was also a past Legion commander.

Survivors are his wife, Marion of Bennington; sons and daughter-in-law, John of Palm Springs, Calif. and Jim and Betsy of Lincoln; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Erma Gottsch of Fremont and Lozene Neuhaus of Omaha; several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers were Scott Coufal, Mike Fedde, Steve Engstrom, Gary Lambrecht, Matt Fedde and Matt Norden.

Hadan-Golden-Reichmuth Mortuary in Bennington was in charge of arrangements.
