Mrs. Gerheard Mehrens died at their home in Long Beach, Calif., very suddenly last Wednesday of heart trouble and Maurice and his sister, Mrs. Ross VanLiew, left Thursday morning for that place to attend the funeral service which was held yesterday, burial out there. Mrs. Mehrens would have been 69 years of age in March. She was married here in Blair just 49 years ago on New Year’s day. Besides her bereaved husband she is survived by Maurice, Mrs. I. H. Warrick, who was spending the winter with her parents in Long Beach, William and Alex, of Minneapolis, Minn. , and Mrs. Ross VanLiew.

Former Blair Lady Dies In California

Maurice Mehrens, county sheriff, received word Wednesday of the death of his mother, Mrs. Gearhart Mehrens, who had been living the past few years in Long Beach, Calif. She had been ill for about a week with heart trouble, to which cause her death was attributed.

The deceased was sixty-eight years of age and leaves her husband, three sons, Maurice of Blair, Nebr., Will and Alex of Minneapolis, Minn., and two daughters, Mrs. Ross Van Liew of Blair and Mrs. I. H. Warrick of Long Beach, Calif.

The family lived in Blair for many years when Mr. Mehrens was among the business men of the community.

Maurice Mehrens and sister, Mrs. Van Liew left upon receipt of telegram for California where interment will be made.
