Walter “Walt” Plugge, 84

Funeral services for Walter “Walt” Plugge, age 84 of Blair, who died at Good Shepherd Home in Blair on January 17, 1991 were held Saturday, January 19 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Howard Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Walter F. Plugge was born on May 1, 1906 at Kennard, Nebraska to Fred and Sophia Heuermann Plugge. He attended March School and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1921.

On June 10, 1934 he married Dorothy Utermann at rural Kennard, Nebraska. They farmed in the Blair and Kennard area until his retirement in 1972 at which time they moved to Blair.

He worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office for several years after moving to Blair. He was a member of the Shorthorn Association, past president and secretary of the March School Board, and a member of the Fremont Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Kyle Plugge and Richard Misfeldt; one sister Edna Jahnel, and one brother, H.B. Plugge.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Lee and Lloyd Petersen, Blair, Nebraska; Anita and Melvin Misfeldt, Arlington, Nebraska, Dorothy Ann and Larry Gaeth, Fremont, Nebraska; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter L. and Joyce Plugge, Blair; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Plugge, Arlington, and two sisters, Rosie Siercks, Fremont and Lorena Klinger, Morena Valley, California.
