Meets Tragic Death

Henry Meier, well known citizen of Sheridan township, met a tragic death last Friday. He was plowing with a tractor and it is thought in some way, he became tangled in the machinery of the tractor and was badly battered.

He had gone out to his work after dinner and had made only a couple of rounds. When found some hours later he was lying across the tractor in such a way that his body was holding the tractor, which was still running, out of gear and at the same time he was resting across the exhaust pipe so that his body was burned terribly.

Mr. Meier was a man who took an active interest in politics and all local civic affairs and was for many years a member of the school board in his district. He was a good farmer a good citizen and his death means the loss of a useful man in his community.

The funeral services were held on Monday at 12:30 at Herman where the Masonic brotherhood had charge and at 2 o’clock at Telbasta where the body was buried.

Surviving are his wife, six children, mother, Mrs. H. Meier, Winslow, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. P. L. Robinson, Fremont; Albert, Missouri Valley; Mrs. C. F. Nielsen, Golden Valley; Minn.; Mrs. E. H. Carpenter, Blair; Mrs. Mary Gately, Winslow and Mrs. A. E. Seelmeyer, Hooper.
