Leslie L Robinson, 78, of North Bend, died Friday July 17, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler. Interment will be at 1:15 p.m. at the Woodland Cemetery in North Bend. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church, one hour prior to services. Leslie L. “Les” Robinson was born August 12, 1930, in Blair to Lewis and Laura (Carmichael) Robinson. He grew up in Blair and worked at Kelly Ryan in Blair. He later was employed at Montgomery Ward in Omaha and he operated a sporting good store in Lincoln for several years. He farmed in North Bend are from the early 1960’s to the early 1970’s. He moved into North Bend in 2002. Mr. Robinson was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler. He was an avid softball player and pitcher and had been inducted into the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame in 1991. He and his granddaughter, Christina, conducted girls softball pitching clinics in cities across Nebraska. For several years, he was a pitching coach for the girls softball team at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and at Dana College in Blair. On July 3, 1955, he married Mary Pacas at North Bend. She survives him, as do five sons and daughter-in-laws¸ Jimmy and Brenda Robinson and Russell Robinson, all of North Bend; Rollin and Kathi Robinson of Columbus, Richard and LeAnn Robinson of Liberty, Mo., and Robert and JoAnn Robinson of Scribner; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Lefty) and Mary Robinson of Blair, sisters, Helen Paulson and Annie Lowther, both of Fremont. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Rahlfs; and four brothers, Earl, Walter, William and Rollin Robertson. Memorials are suggested to Christ United Methodist Church at Schuyler; First United Methodist Church at North Bend; and to the North Bend Library Fund.
