Merlin A. Robinson, 88, lifelong Tekamah resident and caretaker and sexton of the Tekamah Cemetery for over fifty years died late Tuesday morning, February 21, 1989 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair where he had been a resident for the past few months.

Merlin Robinson was born December 1, 1900 at Tekamah to John H. and Mary Jane Ray Robinson. He married Annie Ethel Smith, who preceded him in death on August 28, 1983.

Survivors include six daughters, Jean Peterson of Holdredge, Nebraska, Lois Lowe of Denver, Colorado, Janet Perry of Omaha, Rachel Williams of Omaha, Pauline Rufer of Tekamah and Joyce Gregory of Fremont; six sons, Tom and Roger, both of Tekamah, Jerry of LeGrand, Iowa, John of Omaha, Carl of Blair, and Duane of Idaho; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters, Susan Martens, Wanda Welch and Violet Robinson, three sons, Merlin, Jr. ‘Bud’, Keith and David; and fourteen brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were Friday, February 24 at Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.
