Nadine E. Meier, 76

Nadine E. Meier, 76, of Nickerson, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont.

Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.

Nadine E. Meier was born Sept. 6, 1923, to Lee M. and Meta (Hinrich) Bradford in LeMars, Iowa.

She grew up in Blair and was a graduate of Blair High School. She worked at the Grand Island Ordnance Plant during WWII. She has lived on a farm near Nickerson since 1947.

She was an excellent seamstress and did sewing for many weddings. She was a Red Cross Volunteer at the Fremont Area Medical Center and the A. J. Merrick Manor for 26 years. She served on the Red Cross board of directors for 20 years and received the Emil H. Mares Award in 1998 for her outstanding volunteer service.

She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, served on the Altar Committee and designed many church banners. She was the first woman on the church council, was a member of Mary/Martha Circle for many years and was very involved in many areas of the Lutheran Church Women. She served on the Nickerson Election Board and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 Auxiliary in Fremont.

On Sept. 10, 1943, she married Eldon T. Meier in Fontanelle.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jessie Meier of Carlisle, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Rick Milkey of Flagstaff, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Joyce Bradford of Lincoln; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Leland Grabbe of Herman; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason and Jessica Brandt; and two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Logan Brant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lee M. Bradford; and two sisters, Marjorie Cook and Bonnie Harrington.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

NICKERSON – The funeral for Nadine E. Meier, 76, of Nickerson will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.

She died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The Rev. Charles Bichel will officiate Wednesday’s service. Visitation will be until 9 tonight with family receiving friends 6:30-8 tonight, all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and will continue one hour before service time in the church.

Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Fontanelle.

A memorial has been established at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.
