Roma Meier, 87

Roma Meier, 87, of Herman, died April 27, 2005, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Monday, May 2, at Salem Lutheran Church at Fontanelle, with the Rev. Jane Denison officiating. Interment was at the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Roma Meier was born Aug. 15, 1917, in rural Fremont to Louis and Christine Johnson. She was raised in the Fremont and Nickerson area, and was a graduate of Nickerson High School.

On June 24, 1940, she married Milton H. Meier at Fremont. The couple farmed north of Arlington. After her husband’s death in 1976, Mrs. Meier remained on the farm until moving to Arbor Manor in January 2004.

Mrs. Meier is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Jody Meier of Herman; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Rabe and Mardell and Tom Wilkins, all of Arlington; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Meier; son-in-law, Rodney Rabe; and a brother, Leo Johnson.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
