Kennard Man Died Suddenly Late Wednesday

Wilbert O. Luschen was the victim of a heart attack

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Emmaus Lutheran Church of Kennard for Wilbert O. Luschen who died suddenly on December 4, of a heart attack.

Mr. Luschen, who lived on a farm southeast of Kennard, had been in poor health for some time. He had rented out his farm ground for the past two years, but still cared for his livestock. Wednesday morning he was watching a TV program shortly before noon, while Mrs. Luschen was in the kitchen. She heard a gasp and found Mr. Luschen on the living room floor. The Blair Rescue Squad was immediately summoned, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Blair Hospital.

Wilbert Otto Luschen was born December 29, 1913 at Bennington, Nebr. and died December 4, 1968 at Kennard. He was the son of John D. Luschen and Meta Logeman Luschen. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); two sons, Donald of Loveland, Colorado, and Steve of DeKalb, Illinois, and a daughter, Mary, of Kennard. He is also survived by four brothers: Fred, Henry, and Leonard of Omaha, and Arnold of Gretna, and his mother, Mrs, Mary Luschen of Bennington.

Pallbearers were Harry Ohrt, Merle Wardell, Alvin Wulf, Willis Witt, Fred Dunkle, and Rudolph Sobotka.

In addition to his occupation of farming, Mr. Luschen took an active interest in community affairs and for several years served on the school board at Kennard.
