Frank H. Root Died At Hospital Here Tuesday

Superintendent Of Good Shepherd Home Had Paralytic Stroke

Frank H. Root, Superintendent of the Good Shepherd Home at Blair for the past nine years, died Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Community Hospital at Blair. Death was attributed to a paralytic stroke suffered about a week ago. He had experienced a similar stroke several years ago.

Mr. Root was 60 years of age, having been born at Lansing, Michigan, October 13, 1910.

For many years he lived at Aitken, Minnesota, where he was general manager of the Land-O-Lakes Creamery which specialized in butter manufacturing and turkey processing. He retired from that activity about ten years ago, seeking something of a little less strenuous nature and in 1962 he became Superintendent of the Good Shepherd Home at Blair. Mrs. Root has been his chief assistant in the work which they have carried out very competently.

He is survived by his wife, Bernadine, and by a daughter, Mrs. Larry Shield and by a son, Gordon, bother of Aitken. There are two grandchildren. Four sisters and a brother, none of whom are from this area, who survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aitken. Burial will be made at the nearby town of Shakopee, Minnesota.

The Bendorf Funeral Home has been in charge of arrangements.
