Washington County Pioneer Dies In Oregon

Word has been received by friends in this county, of the death of Luther Melton, of LaMonta, Oregon, August 16, of brights disease, at around seventy years of age. Mr. Melton was reared in the southern part of Washington county and married Miss Mattie Wright, also a resident here and a sister of Craig Wright of the county. Mr. Melton left Nebraska about ten years ago for the west and located at La Monta, Oregon, where at the time of his death, he had considerable land and was in comfortable circumstances. He leaves his wife and five children; 4 sons and one daughter all grown and married and living on good farms in Oregon.
