Paul Melotz Died of Heart Attack June 24

Services for Paul Melotz, well known area farmer and business man, were held last Monday, June 28, 1976 at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha. He died of a heart attack at his home Thursday, June 24th.

He was united in marriage to Julia Sierk and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1974.

Paul operated a sorghum mill with his father Herman Melotz on their farm at ninety-sixth and McKinley Streets from 1920-1935. In 1935, he opened the Melotz Motor Supply Store which he operated until his retirement in 1973. In 1972 he received the Aksarben Pioneer Award.

He is survived by his wife Julia; one daughter, Madeline Shattuck, Salt Lake City, Utah. Two sons, John P. of Omaha and David M. of Blair. Brother, Clarence, Denver, Colorado. Two sisters, Dorothy Sands, Mountainburg, Ark., Alice Hasselquist, Omaha. Seven grandchildren.

Nephews, Jim Nielsen, Duane Nielsen, Gene Kruse, Marvin Heise, John O’Connor and Rolland Miller were pallbearers. Interment was at Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.
