Loren G. Rogers, 74, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at his home in Arlington.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 3, at the Arlington Community Church with the Rev. Don Helmuth officiating. Interment was at the Arlington Cemetery. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8832 and American Legion Post 71, both of Arlington.

Loran G. Rogers was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Hardscratch, Iowa, to Clair and Hilda Rogers. His family moved to Blair in 1937, and he graduated from Blair High School in 1948. He moved to Arlington in 1951, and served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 25, 1952 to Feb. 6, 1954, during the Korean War. After his discharge, he began farming and moved onto the farm in 1960. He also managed the Arlington Grain Elevator and worked at Hormel Foods for a short time.

On June 10, 1951, he married Ina Deane French.

He was a member of the Arlington Community Church, where he served many years as a trustee. He was a former member and past president of the Arlington School Board; former member and chairman of the Washington County Extension Board and served as a 4-H leader. The family was named “Farm Family of the Year” in 1971 by WOWT, and also received an Ak-Sar-Ben “Pioneer Farm Family” award for family ownership of the farm for 100 years. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont, the Eagles Camping Club, and the Arlington American Legion Post No. 17.

He is survived by his wife, Ina Deane; daughter and son-in-law Lorna and Londo Auch of Bennington; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry D. and Jane Rogers of Arlington, Lynn W. and Kris Rogers of Wichita, Kan., and Lane A. and Pat Rogers of Blair; his mother, Hilda Rogers Lippincott of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Ethel Rogers of Cedar Bluffs; and sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Mervin Giesselmann of Arlington; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clair Rogers; and one brother, Gene Lloyd Rogers.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church.
