ARNOLD ROGERT DIED AT HERMAN DURING BLIZZARD

Arnold Rogert, of Herman, Nebraska, has been listed as a victim of the worst snow storm in Eastern Nebraska for the past 25 years. Mr. Rogert died of a heart attack. Reports have it that Mr. Rogert was at the Don Anderson farm west of Herman when he passed away. Rogert’s vehicle had become stuck and he was seeking help at the Anderson farm when he was stricken.

The Blair Rescue Squad was called but Mr. Rogert was pronounced dead by the time the unit had plowed through the snow to the Anderson farm. Mr. Rogert was Postmaster at Herman and lived on a farm west of Herman.

Arnold Frederick Rogert, known all his life as “Sonny”, was born August 29, 1921 on farm near Herman in Washington County, where he spent his entire life except while in Military service. He passed away January 3, 1971, age 49 years, 4 months and 6 days.

He attended school at the Brodersen and New England Schools and was a graduate of Herman High School.

As a youth, he was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of the Herman Federated Church.

He served in the United States Air Force from July, 1942, until February, 1946.

On January 14, 1943, he was untied in marriage to Virginia West in Rantoul, Ill. To this union two children were born; Mrs. David Klein (Cathy) of Herman and David at home. He also leaves to mourn, his mother, Mrs. Emma Rogert of Blair; one brother Emmett Rogert of Blair; three sister, Miss Phyllis Rogert, Mrs. Ada McGargill and Mrs. Harriet Potter all of Omaha, Nebraska.

He was appointed Postmaster of Herman, Nebraska, July 16, 1965. He was a member and past Adjutant of Jackson-Peck American Legion Post of Herman, Member of the Herman Community Club, was Secretary of the Brodersen School District 10 years, was a 4-H Leader 10 years, member of the Tri-County Saddle Club, Member of the National League of Postmasters and National Association of Postmaster of the United States. He was dedicated to his family and his community.

Funeral services will be help today, Thursday, January 7, 1971 at the Herman Legion Hall with Rev. Zack Kleinsasser, pastor of the Herman Federated Church in charge. Campbell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Irvin Clements, Eugene Clements, Allan Yowell, Jack Eriksen, Bob Brodersen, Lyle Thielfoldt, Vernon Clements and Bill Peck.
