Virginia Mae Rogert, 79, of Herman, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at Crowell Nursing Home.

Services were 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at the Herman Legion Hall. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Virginia Mae Rogert was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Herman to Jennings and Mae (Thompson) West. She graduated from Herman High School in 1937.

On Jan. 14, 1943, she married Arnold (Sonny) Rogert in Rantoul, Ill.

She worked in post offices for 20 years, including several years as a postal clerk in Herman, Blair and Tekamah.

She was a member of the Herman American Legion Auxiliary, Baptist Guild, Blair Hospital Auxiliary and Tri-county Saddle Club. She was an avid card player and bingo player and traveled worldwide upon retirement.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Diane Rogert of Herman; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Gary Williamsen of Blair; four grandchildren, Kori and Kodi Williamsen, of Blair, and Kent and Kevin Rogert of Lincoln; brother, James West , of Omaha; two sisters, Jean Kelly of Valley and Patricia Short of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Rogert of Blair, Ada McGargill of Omaha, and Harriett Potter of Arizona; and brother-in-law and wife, Emmett and Betty Rogert of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennings and Mae West, and husband, Arnold (Sonny) Rogert.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
