MELVERN WILLIAM SHUMAKE DIES

Melvern William Shumake, son of Charles and Bertha Shumake, was born in Washington county, Nebraska December 8, 1930. He departed this life at the home of his parents, 303 East Lincoln St., Blair, Nebraska June 26, 1936, age five years, six months and eighteen days.

Those of the immediate family are the father and mother, one brother, Charles Edward, Jr., the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Shumake of Herman, Nebraska and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Ashinhurst of Taylorville, Illinois.

There are fourteen aunts and uncles as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ashinhurst, Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Nation, Mrs. Ona Boils, all of Stonington, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Nation of Edinburg, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Herchell Flowers of Mt. Auburn, Ill.; Mr. John Ashinhurst of Taylorville, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clayburn of Blair, Nebraska.

The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, June 28th, at the Campbell mortuary, conducted by Rev. D. A. McCullough of the Blair Methodist church. Burial was in the Herman cemetery.

BOY, 5, DIES OF SPINAL TROUBLE

MELVERN WILLIAM SHUMAKE IS BURIED AFTER SERVICES SUNDAY

Melvern William Shumake, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shumake of 303 east Lincoln street, died Friday evening at the family home after a brief illness caused by spinal trouble. He had first been afflicted June 16.

The lad was born December 8, 1930, in Washington county and is survived by his parents, a brother Charles Edward, jr., his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Shumake of Herman and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Ashinhurst of Taylorsville, Illinois, and 14 aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Campbellā€™s mortuary, conducted by the Rev. D.A. McCullough, pastor of the Blair Methodist church. Burial was in Herman cemetery.
