Celia Margaret Rohwer died on Sept. 6, 1988 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska.

Born of a pioneer family in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska on Nov. 8, 1903, she was the youngest of seven children of George Rohwer and Catherine Beekmann Rohwer.

Graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1925, Celia taught for one year at Eagle, Nebraska. From 1926 to 1957 she taught mathematics, science and history at Fort Calhoun High School while serving as its principal from 1929 to 1957. From 1957 to 1972 she served on the Fort Calhoun Board of Education.

Her many civic activities included service as chairman of the Fort Calhoun Park Board, President of the Fort Calhoun Cemetery Association and Fort Calhoun Women’s Club. She was a charter member of Blair branch of the American Association of University Women.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Helen Jipp of Blair, Nebraska and twelve nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 9th at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church with interment at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the Fort Calhoun Pioneer Fund.
