George Keith Perry, 65

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 at First Christian Church in Fremont for George Keith Perry, who died June 2, 1990 at his home in Fremont of cancer. Rev. Richard O’Donnell will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday from 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home.

George Keith Perry was born March 25, 1925 in Fremont. He attended Fremont Public Schools.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II from December, 1942 to February, 1946. During that time he received several service medals including Victory Medal, American Area, Asiatic Pacific and Good Conduct Medals.

He was the first serviceman in Dodge County to take the “General Education Development Test,” an exam for Veterans to receive their high school diploma. He was a life-long resident of Fremont.

He was employed by Chicago Northeastern Railroad, General Dynamics and retired from The Federal Aviation Administration in 1986. He was also a well-known musician who played with Dick Weichman’s Orchestra and other bands, including his own.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 854 and American Legion Post No. 20.

He married Elizabeth Swanson Perry September 19, 1946 in Marysville, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include five sons, Ross and David Perry of North Platte, Nebraska; Vincent Perry of Fremont; Garland Perry of Jonesboro, Georgia and Vaughn Perry of Kearney, Nebraska; two daughters, Katheryn Perry of Livermore, California; and Nanette (Mrs. Daniel) Buresh of Fremont; three sisters, Nancy Pettit of Fremont, Frankie Johnson of Hastings, Nebraska and Edna Perry of Bloomfield, Nebraska and 19 grandchildren.
