Helen L. Rohwer, 94, of Blair, died June 10, 2001, in Blair.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, with a devotional service at 7 p.m. conducted by Rev. Bob Meanor.

Helen Louis Rohwer was born August 28, 1906, in Moberly, Mo., to Chris and Pauline (Rethwisch) Rohwer.

When she was nine years old, Rohwer's family moved to Blair. In 1919, the family moved to Lincoln, where she graduated from high school.

In 1926, Ms. Rohwer graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She taught Home Economics at Lyons and Franklin, and worked for the Farm Security Administration, USDA, in Furnas, Webster and Thurston counties for several years. In 1947, she became the Home Extension Agent with the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension Service in Harlan County.

In 1954, she moved back to Blair, where she served as the County Home Extension Agent. She retired in 1969, and moved to Trenton, Ohio, to live with her brother, Paul Rohwer.

Ms. Rohwer moved to Crowell Memorial Home in 1991. She was a member of the National Home Economics Association.

She is survived by a cousin, Anita Mehrens of Fort Calhoun, and a friend, Helen Pfeiffer of Blair. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Rohwer.

Memorials are suggested to Crowell Memorial Home and First United Methodist Church.
