Prayer services for Norma (Sievers) Rohwer were held Sunday afternoon, March 15 at the Hadan-Golden Mortuary in Bennington. Dr. Norman Schroeder officiated. Funeral services were held at Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut, Iowa, on Monday, March 16, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Selsor officiating. Mrs. Bernice Larson was the organist and Ron Knutson the soloist.

Honorary casket bearers’ were M. F. (Bus) Mattox, Orville Sievers, Herbert Sievers and Harry Krohn. The Casket bearers were Eugene, Fred and Robert Kohn, Arnold and Earl Sievers and Herbert Henningsen.

Interment was in the Walnut Cemetery at Walnut.

Norma Emilie Margreta Rohwer was born at Shelby, Iowa, on October, 11, 1900.

She was the daughter of Herbert and Katie Petersen Engel. She was united in marriage to Fred W. Sievers on December 20, 1922. They made their home on a farm south of Walnut. They were the parents of one son, Clark. Fred died on September 3, 1959.

Norma was united in marriage to John Rohwer on August 8, 1962. They made their home on a farm east of Bennington until 1982 when they moved to an apartment in Bennington. John died on October 25, 1982.

Norma continued living in Bennington until she died on Thursday, March 12, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. She lived 86 years, five months and one day.

Norman became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington in 1981. She was a member of the Mary-Martha Circle of the LCW. She will be remembered for her happy spirit, one who loved her garden and especially flowers. She found much joy and companionship at the Bennington Over 60 Center.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Fred and John; one son, Clark; two brothers, Herbert Hans Engel and Leroy Carl Engel.

She leaves to mourn her daughter-in-law Ann Sievers of Omaha; three sisters, Karla Timperley of Omaha, Bernice Lapp of Santa Marie, California and Leona Johnson of Roseburg, Oregon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
