Funeral services for Kenneth Rolland, 40, Blair, were held Monday, May 20, 2002, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Private family graveside services were held in the Blair Cemetery. Mr. Rolland died Thursday, May 16, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Kenneth A. Rolland was born July 26, 1961, in Blair to Gustav and LaVonne Rolland. He attended kindergarten through third grade at rural Orum, and graduated from Blair High School in 1979. He worked for the Rolland family farm supply company and began working for Dillon Motors in 2002.

On June 6, 1987, he married Tracey Fallon in Blair.

He began playing baseball at the age of eight, and played softball for many years, playing on the Rolland Farm Supply, Kent Feeds, and MACC teams. He served as president of the bowling league and bowled 5,300 games in his career. He coached Blair Little League baseball, and was one of the founders and served on the board of directors of the Blair Youth Football. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Tracey; children, Carney, Avery, and Kelby; mother Lavonne Rolland; grandmother, Clara Quist of Blair; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Sheryl Rolland of Blair; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Bob Leehy of Blair and Kathy and Dave Huhnkerkop of Deming, N. M.; mother and father-in-law, Ron and Joyce Fallon; brother-in-law, Jeff Fallon, all of Elkhorn; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Pete Kazakevicius of Lexington, Ky.; many nieces nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gustav.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

YOUTH SPORTS ORGANIZER ROLLAND DIES

Blair, Neb.- Funeral services for Kenneth Rolland, a co-founder of the Blair midget football league, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Rolland, 40, died Thursday morning at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Rolland organized youth sports leagues, coached little league baseball and participated in sports, particularly bowling. He also played recreational softball and enjoyed golfing.

On Oct. 25, 1989, Rolland bowled his first 300 game and went on to achieve four more perfect games in his 20 years as a bowler.

“If he wasn’t bowling or golfing, he was organizing the next outing,” said Joyce Fallon, Rolland’s mother-in-law, “He just loved sports”.

Rolland was a Blair High school graduate and worked at Rolland Farm Supplies, his family’s business, for 20 years.

Fallon said Rolland was a dedicated father to his three sons. “If his boys were doing something, he was there,” Fallon said. “He just had a wonderful zest for life.”

Rolland is survived by his wife, Tracey of Blair; sons, Carney, Avery, and Kelby; mother Lavonne of Blair; grandmother Clara Quist of Blair; brother Kevin Rolland of Blair; sister Kay Leehy of Blair; sister Kathy Huhnerkopf of Deming, N. M; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
