Grace B. Rood, long time resident of rural Fort Calhoun, passed away in Salinas, California at the age of 91. Services were scheduled at 2:00 p.m. at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun, with burial in Fort Calhoun Cemetery, on Monday, March 30, 1981.

Grace was born on November 18, 1889, to Mary Jane and William F. Green. She was one of eight children who have all preceded her in death.

Grace married Elmer Earl Rood in 1912. He passed away in 1944. She lived in Salinas, California after his death and in 1960 moved back to the Greene Farm.

She had spent the holidays in Salinas when she became ill. After surgery she developed pneumonia and died on March 22, 1981.

Grace is survived by three daughters, Edith Allbee and Ann Brown of Salinas, Genevieve Dowler of Omaha, and one son, Robert, of Salinas; five grandsons and five great-grandchildren. One niece and one nephew also survive her.
