Celia Ann Iverson was born Aug. 25, 1901, at home near Fort Calhoun to William and Bertha Iverson. She grew up on the family farm working with the family over the years and graduated from the eighth grade in 1914.

On Feb. 24, 1926, she married Art Schneider, a long-time friend, in Fort Calhoun.

The couple had two children, a daughter, Jeanine and a son, Dean.

They bought their farm in 1926 and raised their two children till Jeanine’s death from polio at the age of 16 in 1952.

After her husband’s death in 1960 and her son’s marriage in 1968, Mrs. Schneider sold her farm to her son and daughter-in-law. Today, after her son’s death in 2000, her grandson still keeps the farm running.

Mrs. Schneider moved to the Parkside Apartments in Blair in 1968 and worked at the Crowell Home for a number of years until her retirement. She remained living in the apartment until a broken hip forced her to enter into the Good Shepherd Home where she resided until her death.

She was active in extension clubs, playing cards with friends and neighboring functions and working on the farm. She was a good mother, mother-in-law, grandma, great-grandma and friend.

On her 105th birthday, she received an honorary diploma from the Fort Calhoun High School and was made an Admiral in The Great Navy of Nebraska.

In addition to the death of her husband, and two children, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna, and two brothers, Chris and Otto.
