MACK CAMERON, FARMER, STOCKMAN, SUPERVISOR, DIES

Mack Cameron, one of the county’s best known farmers, stockman and a former Washington County Supervisor, died Wednesday at Memorial Community Hospital. He had been in failing health for several months and had been at the hospital several weeks.

Mack Cameron was born near Herman, July 22, 1893, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cara Cameron. Mack was 80 years of age at the time of his death.

He spent his entire life engaged in farming and most of the time in the vicinity of the home place west of Herman.

In addition to being a good farmer, he held an active interest in community affairs. For eighteen years he represented his area as a member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors, beginning the work in 1948 and continuing through 1966. During that time he gave much time to county affairs which resulted in improved rural roads and general efficiency of county business.

He is survived by his wife, Emma and by two sons and three daughters.

The sons are William and Jack Cameron, both of Herman. The daughters: Mrs. Buss (Sadie) Hansen of Omaha; Mrs. Walter (Hattie) Schumacher of Kennard; Mrs. Gene (Joan) Christiansen of Herman. There are 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Broderson and Mrs. Ruth Jackson, both of Herman, are sisters of the deceased.

Funeral services were held at the Herman Legion Hall, Saturday afternoon, February 16th. The Rev. Zack Kleinsasser conducted the service and burial was made in the Herman Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers were Terry, Mack, Steven and Douglas Cameron, Jeff Christiansen, Ronald Hansen and Keith Carmichael.
