SERVICES HELD FOR WILLIAM C. CAMERON

(veteran)

Funeral services for 60 year old William C. Cameron, of Tekamah, were held Monday, July 16, 1984, at 10 a.m. in the Herman Legion Hall, Herman, Nebraska. Mr. Cameron died on Friday, July 13, 1984, after an illness involving cancer.

Officiating at the service were Rev. Zack Kleinsasser and Rev. Palmer Swenson with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held at the Herman Cemetery.

Organist was Gracie Husk with music provided by Ed and Mary Ann Prussa, Cliff and Marilyn Morrow and Patty Hampton.

Active pallbearers were: Joe Cameron, Larry Gregerson, Harry Hanson, Gary Jack, Lloyd Olson, Gale Peterson, Tom Stranik and Louis Venteicher.

Honorary pallbearers were: Fred Aman, Charles Broderson, Gene Cameron, Steve Cameron, Emmet Connaly, Dr. L. I. Grace, Harold Hancock, Cameron Jackson, Marvin Jordan, Rev. Zack Kleinsasser, Emil Mass and David Rogert.

William C. Cameron was born on May 1, 1924 near Herman, Nebraska. He was the son of Mack and Emma Holstein Cameron.

He attended Thone, Rose Hill and Herman High School. Bill was a baseball enthusiast and pitched for several town teams.

He served in the armed services from July, 1945 to December 31, 1946. During that time he toured Europe as a pitcher for the Army baseball team.

He married Leah Mae Lowe on March 12, 1948 at Herman, Nebraska. They raised three children. (Here, some information seems to be cut off.) ………. Mack Cameron of Herman, Nebraska; mother, Emma Cameron, Blair, Nebraska; three sisters, Mrs. Bus (Sadie) Hansen, Omaha; Mrs. Harry (Hattie) Andreasen, Kennard, Nebraska; Mrs. Eugene (Joan) Christiansen, Herman, Nebraska; one brother, Jack of Herman; three grandsons, Mike, Jeff and Scott Cameron of Herman, Nebraksa. Bill was preceded in death by his father Mack Cameron.

Bill was concerned about the school system and served as a school board member. He pushed for the consolidation of rural school districts into the Herman District. He served as commander of the Herman American Legion Post 274. He coached several little league teams in Herman.
