SERVICE HELD ON MONDAY FOR J. C. CAMPBELL

Funeral services were held Monday, December 7, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church for J. Carroll Campbell who died December 1, 1981, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Houston, Texas. Death occurred seven days after the accident at the Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Rev. Jess Hansen conducted the services here. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

A memorial service was also held in Humble, Texas, at the North Central Assembly of God Church on Monday, December 7, for friends and co-workers.

J. Carroll Campbell was born March 21, 1962, in Blair to Jerry and Barbara Griffis Campbell. He was baptized in the United Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

J.C. attended all 13 years of his school years in Blair. He was a member of Cub Scouts and student manager for the football team in his junior year. He graduated from Blair High School in the spring of 1980.

(Some words are cut off)…………Washington County office as a dispatcher and later worked for Douglas County in that capacity. The summers of 1980 and 1981 were spent working on harvesting crews, starting at the Oklahoma border and working up to the Nebraska wheat fields. He also worked for E.T. Thompson Standard Oil during the winter of 1980.

In August of 1981, he moved to Houston, Texas, and there joined the West University Place Police Department as dispatcher. He received a letter of commendation from his Police Chief, Frank Robinson, for assisting officers in re-capturing an escaping prisoner.

He planned to join the police academy in January and continue his police work.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Barbara Campbell of Blair; and one sister, Pam Campbell of Blair. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jensen, Blair; Mr. and Mrs. Carroll T. Griffis, Lake Havasu, Arizona; and Mr. and Mrs. Howard F. Campbell, Hudson, Florida; and his Godfather, Ivan Christiansen, California, also survive him.

Pallbearers for the services were Bruce Bohrer, Jeff Christensen, Talon Isom, Dan Nielsen, Brian Shald, Jeff Sterner, Scott Stork and Rob Vogt.

Barbara Anderson was organist for the services.

All memorials will be sent to the West University Place Police Association to be used as scholarship funding of a worthy cadet to the Police Academy.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
