David P. Schneider, 60

David P. Schneider, 60, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at his home in Blair. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

David P. Schneider was born June 9, 1943 in Denison, Iowa to Paul and Jeanetta (Truhlsen) Schneider. He graduated from Schleswig (Iowa) High School.

Mr. Schneider was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the US Navy from July 1964 until July 1968. While he was stationed in Norfolk, Va., he met Janice Duncan. They were married on May 6, 1967.

After living in Virginia for a few years, he decided he wanted to move back to the Midwest to be closer to his family. After living in Omaha for a short time, the family moved to Blair in November of 1970.

On July 1, 1970, he began working as a mechanic at Sapp Brothers Ford, now known as Woodhouse Ford. He was a mechanic until his retirement in June, 2003.

He enjoyed taking vacations with his family and being involved in family activities. He also enjoyed working with wood, making different items from his original drawings.

He is remembered as a man who “never met a stranger”, and he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Mark Corcoran of Papillion and Leslie and David Brown of Omaha; three grandchildren; mother and step-father, Jeanetta and Cyrenus Knief of Deloit, Iowa; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Durene and Frances Krohnke of Schleswig, Iowa, Diane and Paul Nockels of Blair, Donna and Roy Osterlund of Carroll, Iowa, and Debbie and Rick Rupiper of Crescent, Iowa; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dick and Nancy Schneider of Omaha and Danny Schneider of Carroll, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Max Schneider.
