James Schneider is Buried on Monday

Funeral services were held Monday, November 24, at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church for James Henry Schneider, 71, who died November 21, 1980, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Rev. John Fritzmeier conducted the services. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

James Henry Schneider was born November 6, 1909, in Minonk, Illinois, to Jacob J. and Margaret McIlveney Schneider. He moved, with his parents, to Brainard, Nebraska, when he was small. They later moved to a farm near Wilbaux, Montana.

After attending school there, he went to Barber College at Helena, Montana. He took his apprenticeship, after graduation at Butte, and later barbered in Omaha and Nebraska City.

He was a barber for over 50 years, coming to Kennard in the early 1930’s and barbering there for 47 years.

He married Dorothy Petersen of Blair on June 10, 1936.

He joined the Methodist Church in Kennard in 1950.

A World War II Veteran, he was a lifetime member of the Kennard Legion Post and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Fremont Eagles Club and was a retired Kennard Fireman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schneider of Kennard; one half-sister, Annie Scheer, Frankfort, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Ada Weise was organist for the service. Homer Nielsen provided the vocal music.

Pallbearers were Norman Curley, Kenneth Baxter, Joe Maxwell, Elmer Andersen, Kenneth Maxwell, and Ronald Novak.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
