MRS. CAMPBELL SUCCUMBS, 85

WIDOW OF ONETIME BLAIR NEWSPAPERMAN IS DEAD AT HELENA, MONT.

Mrs. Will A. Campbell, 85, of Helena, Mont., died early Monday at Helena. Her husband was once a newspaperman in Blair and also published “The Knocker,” a magazine which received national acclaim shortly after the turn of the century.

Maud Louise Campbell was born here May 6, 1871, the daughter of Nathan and Martha Carter. She was the youngest of a family of 14 children. Her father, a building contractor, was one of the early settlers in Washington County. She attended the Blair schools and later was employed by The Pilot.

She and Mr. Campbell were married in Blair Apr. 30, 1903. To them was born one son, William C. Campbell, who is now advertising manager of The Independent Record at Helena.

Also surviving are a grandson, William A. Campbell of Columbia, Mo., and a granddaughter, Susan A. Campbell of Helena.

Mrs. Campbell went to Helena with her husband and son in 1913 from St. Paul, Minn. Mr. Campbell died in December, 1938.
