Funeral services for Naomi Mathiesen, 78, of Blair, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery. Mrs. Mathiesen died at Crowell Home, Blair.

Naomi Mathiesen was born December 18, 1921 in Blair and was raised in Kennard. She was the daughter of Pete and Irene “Vaughn” Jansen. She attended the Wranch School and graduated from Kennard High School.

After graduation, she worked at the Kennard Post Office. She married Vernon Mathiesen on December 18, 1941 in Arlington. They farmed near Spiker until 1971 when they moved to a farm four miles northwest of Blair.

Naomi enjoyed helping with the farm work, traveling, crocheting, gardening, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard where she was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. Also, she was a member and past president of the Royal Neighbors Post No. 1132, Cross Roads Extension Club and was a sunshine lady at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Jo Mathiesen of Herman and Roger and Judy Mathiesen of Blair; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her brother, Peter Jansen, Scottsdale, Ariz. and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vernon and two sisters, Jesse Stewart and Marjorie Christensen.

Memorial may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, Kennard. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
