Services for Vernon M. Mathiesen, 67 of Blair will be held Tuesday August 9, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Blair. The Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch & Dr. Howard Bailey will officiate.

Mr. Mathiesen died at Methodist Hospital in Omaha on August 6, 1988.

Vernon Mathiesen was born to Hans and Mabel Mathiesen on June 25, 1921 on a farm north of Arlington. Vernon attended Thone and Rose Hill Schools.

He was married to Naomi Jansen on December 18, 1941. They farmed in the Spiker-Blair area until his recent retirement.

He served as a director on the Co-op Board at Tekamah, Washington County Extension Board and Federal Land Bank of West Point and Columbus.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist at Kennard.

Vernon enjoyed travelling, camping and boating as well as vacationing in Arizona during the winter months.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi, sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Jo, and Roger and Judy, grandchildren Matt, Kari, Missy, Kris and Mitch and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Arrangements will be handled by Campbell Funeral Home at Blair.
