Blair native Sonny J. Campbell, 43, died Feb. 16, 2004, at his home in Columbus.

Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Isidore Catholic Church.

Sonny J. Campbell was born March 17, 1960, in Blair to Melvin and Alice (Jump) Campbell. He grew up in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1978. He entered the United States Marine Corps on July 3, 1978, and served for four years, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Upon his return, he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Southeast Community College.

He began working for the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronics technician in Scottsbluff, where he worked for four years, and had worked in Columbus for the past 11 years. On April 25, 1998, he married Melissa Houston in Columbus.

His passions were hunting and his family, and his hobbies included trapshooting, fishing, bowling, music, and history. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the National Rifle Association, PASS, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Federation and the Hartman Post No. 84 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa; three daughters, Amy Campbell and Laura Campbell, both of Columbus; and Sarah Hughes and her fiancé, John Deeney, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; parents, Melvin and Alice Campbell of Blair; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pennie and Jim Keller and Shirleane Lange, all of Blair, and two nieces.

Survived by wife, Melissa Campbell of Columbus; parents, Melvin and Alice Campbell of Blair; daughters, Amy and Laura Campbell of Columbus; daughter, Sarah (fiancé John Deeney) Hughes of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; sister, Pennie (Jim) Keller of Blair; sister, Shirleane Lange of Blair; niece, Shelby Lange of Blair.

SERVICES 10:30 am Thurs., Feb. 19, 2004 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. VISITATION after 4 pm Wed., at McKown Funeral Home; VIGIL SERVICE 7 pm Wed., also at Funeral Home. Visitation continues Thurs. morning from 8 – 10 am at McKown Funeral Home.
