Anna V. Petersen, 93

Anna V. Petersen, 93, of Blair, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Anna Viola Juul was born May 15, 1913, in Omaha to Carl and Elizabeth (Pedersen) Juul. She was baptized Oct. 10, 1913, in Omaha, and was confirmed in the old Danish Lutheran Church. She attended Summer elementary school.

On April 2, 1932, she married Howard Petersen.

Mrs. Petersen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and was president of Ladies Aid. When her husband was injured, she spent time caring for him on the farm they bought in 1940.

She loved to crochet afghans and doilies, and she loved to dance. Her last dance was with Jack Jensen, the night of Jack and Opal Jensen’s 50th anniversary. She loved hugs and was known as “Anna the Hugger.”

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lila Petersen of Arlington, and daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Dallas Jahn of Fremont; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Carla Hovendick of Herman, Ruth and Don Van Dyke of Omaha; and sister-in-law, Betty Juul of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; grandson, Kenneth Jahn; two great-grandchildren, LeAnne Michelle and Ethan Howard Petersen; two sisters; Esther Nielsen and Edna McCambridge; and a brother, Harold Juul.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
