Arthur Petersen

Funeral services for Arthur Paul (Pete) Petersen were held Saturday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the McCurdy Chapel in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Dr. Norman Schroeder of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington officiated.

Interment was in the Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson, Iowa.

Casketbearers were Frank Huber, Dale and Gary Jensen, Robert C., Bob and Ken Johansen.

Petersen was born April 4, 1904, at Washington, Nebraska to Herman and Caroline (Wrigg) Petersen.

He was baptized July 17, 1904, and confirmed May 28, 1920 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington.

Later, he became a member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha.

He transferred to St. John’s again on November 25, 1984, where he continued as a congregational member.

He was united in marriage to Edna Huber. Four children were born to the union.

He farmed much of his life and also was a businessman at Henderson.

They moved to BennView in Bennington in February, 1984.

Following his wife’s death, he moved to Florence Hone and then later to Immanuel Fontanelle Home, where he resided when he died April 16, 1987, at the age of 83 years and 12 days.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Edna; two sisters Caroline and Ella; and two brothers Herman and Fred.

He is survived by three sons, Dr. A. Gene Petersen and Dr. Gerald Peters of Leawood, Kansas and Clark Petersen of Renton, Washington; one daughter, Edna Jamesgard of Phoenix, Arizona, one brother, Walter Petersen of Omaha; two sisters, Edna Jensen of Omaha and Irene Klabunde of Fairbury, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
