Edna Petersen was born November 22, 1919 to Steven and Alice Livermore and died on Easter Sunday, March 26 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
She was one of seven sisters and four brothers. She was married to Peter K. Petersen on February 8, 1939, and to that marriage there were seven children.
Edna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, and was active in the Friendly Neighbors Card Club, Spinning Spokes Buggy Club and the Crazy 8 Card Club.
Edna’s greatest love was her family. The many hours spent in family activities and playing cards brought her great joy. The many grandchildren were a special blessing to her.
Edna is survived by two sons, Kenneth of Lyons, Terry of West Point; five daughters, Edna Mae Bonney of Omaha, Jeanine Dunn, Irvington, Karen Arp, Bennington, Donna Van Buren, Valley, Kyle Engelhardt, Doe Run, Missouri; Two daughters-in-law and five sons-in-law; 33 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Merle, Switzer, California; four sisters, Dora Dohse, Audrey Murphy, Gladys Mohr, all of Omaha, and Maxine Allmon, Dunlap, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Scotty Arp. Funeral services were Wednesday, March 29 at St. John’s Lutheran in Bennington.

Services for Edna Petersen of rural West Point, Nebraska were Wednesday, March 29, 1989 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bennington, Nebraska. Rev. Dr. Russell F. Anderson officiated. Burial was at Fort Calhoun cemetery. Mrs. Petersen died Sunday, March 26, 1989 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, following heart failure after recent heart surgery.
Pallbearers were Dean Knuppel, Rick Broekemeier, Kenneth Respschlaeger, Ed Goldapp, John Lorsch and Irvin Kay. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Rohwer, Paul Lambrecht, Walt Henricksen, Willard Blanknagel, Roy Carlson and Frank Radecker.
Edna Esther Petersen was born in Idaho to Stephen and Alice Livermore. She married Peter K. Petersen February 8, 1939 in Omaha. The couple farmed for 50 years near Kennard, Omaha, and West Point. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Friendly Neighbors Card Club, Spinning Spokes Buggy Club and Crazy Eight Card Club. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February.
She leaves her husband, sons Kenneth of Lyons, Nebraska, Terry W. of West Point, Nebraska, daughters Edna Mae Bonney of Omaha, Nebraska, Jeannine Dunn of Irvington, Nebraska, Karen Arp of Bennington, Nebraska, Donna VanBuren of Valley, Nebraska and Kyle Engelhardt of Doe Run, Missouri; 33 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Merle of Switzer, California; sisters Dora Dohse, Audrey Murphy, Gladys Mohr, all of Omaha and Maxine Allmon of Dunlap, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
