Lee R. Mattox, 87 of Blair Succumbs

Lee R. Mattox, 87, one time Iowa farmer who had lived in Blair the past year, died in Blair hospital Friday night after a two-day illness. He was the father of Mrs. John Dickson, 501 east Grant street, and had lived with the Dicksons.

Funeral services were conducted at the Bendorf Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. D. D. Kennedy, pastor of First Baptist church. Interment was in the Masonic lot in Forest Lawn cemetery, Omaha. Mr. Mattox had been a Mason for half a century.

Born near Cincinnati in 1855, he came to Iowa as a boy and later farmed many years near Winterset. He moved to Omaha in 1920 and came to Blair with the Dicksons a year ago.

Mrs. Mattox died in Omaha January 21, 1941. Surviving Mr. Mattox besides his daughter, Mrs. Dickson, are four grandchildren, three in Des Moines and one, Corporal Jack Mellree, at Camp Carson, Colorado. There are several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
