Emory Fahrney, 86

Graveside services for Emory Fahrney, 86, of Brownsville, Texas, who died April 12, 1994, at Valley Regional Hospital will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Blair Cemetery.

Emory D. Fahrney was born on a homestead in Frontier County, Nebraska to Estella Van Meter and Bert Fahrney.

He attended school in Curtis, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1931. In 1936, he became the agricultural extension agent of Washington County in Blair.

In October, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Saipan and Japan. Upon his discharge in 1945, he joined the Farmers National Co. of Omaha and was promoted to area supervisor of farms in Iowa Counties and Southern Minnesota. He retired in 1970 to his Blanche Lake home in Battle Lake, Minnesota.

On September 21, 1947, he married Mary Hains Gilbert. She preceded him in death in 1980. In 1981, he married Anna Mae Schuh of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David E. of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Dennis E. of Issaquah, Washington, and two step-sons, Ronald Schuh of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Gerald Schuh of Cleveland, Ohio.

Donations may be given to the United Methodist Church at Ottertail, Minnesota.
