Arlington—The funeral for Myrtle M. Schneider, 96, of Arlington will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Arlington Community Church in Arlington.

She died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Myrtle Peterson was born Feb. 14, 1906, in Evan, Minn. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Carl and Sophie Peters, near Sleepy Eye, Minn. She moved to the Irvington area in 1924 and did housekeeping for area families.

She married Walter Dein on Feb. 23, 1927, in Colon. After her marriage, the couple farmed in the Irvington area until moving to the Arlington area in 1941, where they farmed. Her spouse preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1959.

She married Claus Schneider in October 1968 in Bennington. He died Aug. 15, 1991.

She was a member of Arlington Community Church in Arlington and was an extension club member for many years. She also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 8332 Auxiliary of Arlington.

Survivors include: two sons, Carl (and wife, Peg) Dein of Arlington and Dave (and wife, Jaynee) Dein of Seattle; four daughters, Joan Scheer of Arlington, Jean Tiedje of Elkhorn, Greta (Mrs. Eugene) Fagerquist of Seattle and Mary (Mrs. Jim) Kruger of Stayton, Ore.; a stepson, Arlen (and wife, Venitta) Schneider of Kennard; 19 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

The Rev. Shirley Schmidt will officiate Saturday’s service. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation continues 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Arlington Community Church, Arlington, Arlington Over 60 Center and the Crowell Home in Blair.

Myrtle passed from this life on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, NE at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 11 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels C. and Yrsa (Larsen) Peterson; her husbands; brothers, Stanley and Connie; and sisters, Edna Swatsheno, Ethel Redlin and Mildred Peterson.
