Peter Schneider to be Buried on Saturday

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Campbell Funeral Home for Peter Christian Schneider, 85, who died April 6, 1982, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

A prayer service will be held Friday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Douglas Darnold will conduct the services. Burial will be in the German Cemetery.

Peter Christian Schneider was born August 9, 1896, in Washington County to Ernest Christian and Emma Estelle Gottsch Schneider. He grew up in the Wranch School District.

He married Clara Mary Benck on April 26, 1922. They farmed in the Wranch District for many years, retiring to Fort Calhoun in 1963.

He became a paperboy for the World-Herald and traveled 95 miles each week to deliver the Sunday World-Herald to 163 rural customers for seven years. He retired from that job in February. He was featured in the Sunday World-Herald Magazine of the Midlands on August 23, 1981.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; and two sons, Stanley Schneider and Alvin Schneider; and one brother, Gustave Schneider.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. David (Wilma) Geary, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Ray (Marilyn ) Clapper, Ames Nebraska; Mrs. Gerald (Geraldine) Storjohn, Omaha; and Mrs. Lawrence (Clara Ann) Meister, Schuyler; and two sons, Robert Schneider, Fort Calhoun, and Bill Schneider, Elkhorn. Sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Schneider, Omaha; and three sisters, Mrs. George Benck, Jr., Mrs. Ralph Kuehnning, and Mrs. Ernest Garner, all of Lincoln, also survive him.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Schneider, James Schneider, Donald Meister, Dean Meister, Dennis Clapper, Gary Mosher, Duane Gage and Rick Fendrick.

Clare Cowing will be organist.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
