Erwin L. Petersen

Erwin Louis Petersen, 76, of Tekamah, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22, 1988 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair after a brief illness.

Erwin was born on May 23, 1912 at rural Tekamah to Louis J. and Ethyl (Henry) Petersen.

He graduated from the Tekamah High School in 1929 at the age of 16 and was united in marriage to Wilma I. Cornish on March 31, 1935 at Tekamah.

Erwin farmed in the Silver Creek area nearly all his life, and was a member of the Farmers Elevator Board for several years, having served as Board President for nine years.

He was a member of Tekamah Lodge–31, A.F. and A.M.; the I.O.O.F. Lodge at Tekamah; and was a member of the Shrine Club. Erwin was a longtime member of the Tekamah United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma I Petersen of Tekamah; two daughters, Dona R. Stever of Omaha and Dian M. (and husband John) Peterson of Wrightwood, Ca.; one son, Duane E. (and wife, Marilyn) Petersen of Tekamah; four grandchildren, Stephen Petersen, Stacy Long, Heidi Peterson, and Stein Peterson; one brother, Norman H. Petersen of Tekamah; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Erwin was preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law, William R. Stever in July 1987.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 25 at the Tekamah United Methodist Church with Rev Marion H. Knoell officiating. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Hamel and Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
