MRS. CAROL ROOTH OF KENNARD DIES

FUNERAL IS TODAY FOR KENNARD TELEPHONE OPERATOR AGED 46

Mrs. Carl Rooth, 46, Kennard telephone operator for nearly eight years, died Tuesday at St. Joseph’s hospital, Omaha where she was taken a week before, suffering from heart trouble.

Former resident of Oakland, Mrs. Rooth was born December 3, 1890, as Mable Carlsten. She is survived by her husband and three children, Eugene, Annarene, and Elaine. Other survivors include her father, who lives at Pender, two brothers, Eugene and Walter, and three half-brothers

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Baptist church in Oakland. Burial will be at Oakland.

KENNARD OPERATOR IS DEATH VICTIM

Mrs. Carl Rooth, telephone operator at Kennard for the past seven years, passed away early Tuesday at the St. Joseph hospital in Omaha after an illness of many weeks.

Mrs. Rooth, at the time of her death, was 48 years of age and she had been confined to the hospital for but a week.

Mable Elvira Carlsteen was born December 3, 1889 on a farm south of Oakland, Nebraska. In that vicinity she grew to womanhood and received her early schooling.

On December 28th, 1918 she was united in marriage with Carl Rooth, also of Oakland, the marriage taking place in Omaha. Immediately following her marriage, the young couple settled upon a farm in Burt county near Lyons. They remained upon the farm a year, after which time they moved to Lyons where they lived for a number of years. In September, 1930 they moved to Kennard, Nebraska where Mrs. Rooth became telephone operator for the Blair Telephone Co. on the Kennard exchange. She had previously been with the Bell Telephone Co. at Lyons for a period of six years.

Mrs. Rooth leaves, in addition to her husband, a family of three children to mourn her passing. Eldest of the three is Eugene, 18, a senior in the Kennard public schools this year; Annarene, 16, and Elaine, 8 years of age.

In addition to her immediate family, Mrs. Rooth leaves five brothers: Elmer Harbor of Tacoma, Washington; Riley Harbor of Omaha; Waldo Carlsteen of Pender, Nebraska; Ellin Carlsteen of Tacoma, Washington; the Eugene Carlsteen of Lyons, Nebraska. There were no sisters.

Services are being held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock p.m. at the First Baptist church at Oakland, Nebraska. Interment will be made in the Oakland cemetery.
