Mrs. Julia Ann Rosenbalm, one of the old pioneers of the county, died at the home of her son, Mac, on last Friday, Jan. 14, 1916.

Mrs. Rosenbalm was born in Virginia on Feb 24, 1831 thus being nearly eighty five years old at her death.

Mr. and Mrs. Rosenbalm settled in this county south of Blair, where Mac now resides.

The cause of her death was said to be grip which coupled with other complications and her extreme old age proved fatal.

Mrs. Parker Rosenbalm died at the home of her son, Mack, who lives about nine miles south of Blair, at 2:30 last Thursday morning of grippe, which turned into bronchial trouble, she having been a sufferer from asthma for many years. Owing to her advanced age, she would have been 85 the 24th of February, she was unable to throw off the grippe, which seems to be unusually severe this year. The funeral was held at the German Lutheran church in this city at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. A. W. Lambrecht officiating.

Anna VanHuss was born near Abington, Va., Feb 24th, 1831, the last year of Andrew Jackson’s first term as president. She was married there to Parker Rosenbalm and came to this state in 1884, settling first at DeSoto, moving to the place where her death occurred two years later. She was the last of a family of twelve children and leaves two sons, Festus and Mack, and one daughter, Abbie, now Mrs. Wm. Hovendick, who lives near Spiker. Her husband died fourteen years ago in May, and her body now lies by his side in the Blair Cemetery.
