KENNARD NATIVE DIES IN SIDNEY

Donovan Richard Rosenbaum died at his home in Sidney, Nebraska on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the age of 53 years. Services were held at the First United Methodist of Sidney Tuesday, Feb. 12. The Rev. Stanley D. Rider officiated.

Don was born January 2, 1932 on a farm near Kennard to Chester and Dora (Diercks) Rosenbaum. He was baptized in St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bennington, confirmed in Grace Methodist Church at Kennard and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sidney at the time of death.

Don graduated from Kennard High School as class president in 1949. He served in the United States Army for two years in Korea.

Don married Judith Kay Rosenbaum on April 27, 1957. He retired from the Western Electric Company in June of 1983 after 32 years of service.

He is survived by his wife Judy; sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Jodi, Jeff and Valeta, Jim and Lori, David and Stephanie and four grandchildren, all of Sidney; also his mother, Dora of Kennard; sister Mrs. John (La Von) Miller of Lincoln; brothers Neil and Bruce both of Kennard; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and one granddaughter.

He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, John S. Bowen Masonic Lodge 232 of Kennard, Elks Lodge 1894 of Sidney, American Legion Post 17 of Sidney, and the Sidney Red Raiders Booster Club.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Lewis, Bob Roach, William Wrich, Ivan Beran, Melvin Misfeldt, and Maynard Wieser. Active Pallbearers were Larry Doyle, Mark Wieser, Don Christjans, Ron Reichert, Don Kahl and Bob Balfour. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Holechek services made arrangements.
